Two Golden High School students have been arrested as suspects in the burning of a car belonging to a school staff member.
The names of the students, who could face multiple felony charges, were not released by Golden police pending filing of formal charges by the Jefferson County district attorney’s office.
The car-burning incident happened at about 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the school’s parking lot at 701 24th St., police said in a release.
Investigators discovered that the vehicle was “intentionally set on fire through the use of an incendiary device,” the release said.
No one was injured in the incident.
The students, who both live in the Golden area, voluntarily surrendered today to police. They are being held at Mount View Detention Center pending their first court appearance, police said.
The students face possible felony charges of arson, possession of a weapon on school grounds and possession of an incendiary device, among other possible charges, police said.
A motive in the crime was not released.
