Cloudy, cool, wet weather continues to linger along the Front Range today as snow fell on some higher peaks and passes.
Cooper Mountain and Monarch Pass received snow this morning, and some parts of the Eastern Plains received up to 3.5 inches of rain over the Memorial Day weekend, the National Weather Service reports.
Parts of Denver and Boulder received up to 1.5 inches of rain in the past 18 hours, the weather service said.
The Akron Airport, on the Eastern Plains, received 1.31 inches of rain in a 24-hour period from 6 a.m. Monday through 6 a.m. today, according to the weather service.
The wet weather has increased flows in rivers and streams throughout the state, but flooding, if any, has been minimal.
Showers are expected to decrease throughout the day along the Front Range as drier air works its way into the state from the north, the weather service said.
Wet weather could linger on the Eastern Plains today, especially in a line east of Julesburg, Akron and Limon.
Skies could start clearing statewide tonight, the weather service forecasts.
The Denver forecast today calls for a slight chance — 20 percent — of showers and possible afternoon thunderstorms. The high temperature should be about 61 degrees under mostly cloudy skies.
Wednesday should be warmer and drier still, with a 10 percent chance of showers and afternoon thunderstorms, as the high temperature in the city climbs to about 72 degrees, the weather service reports.
