DENVER—DaVita Inc., which operates 1,400 kidney treatment centers nationwide, says it will move its corporate headquarters from El Segundo, Calif., to Denver.

Chairman and CEO Kent Thiry said Wednesday the company expects the move to save millions of dollars but he didn’t give a specific number or time frame.

Thiry also cited Denver’s central location and quality of life, and DaVita’s growing business in the region.

Thiry and other senior executives will move to Denver. DaVita didn’t say how many employees it will have in Denver or whether jobs will be lost elsewhere.

Davita operates outpatient dialysis centers and acute units in more than 700 hospitals in 43 states and the District of Columbia.

Davita’s stock closed up 8 cents to $45.55 on Wednesday.
