WASHINGTON — The federal agency that insures corporate pensions has taken over pension payments for more than 21,000 former workers of defunct electronics retailer Circuit City.
The Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp. estimated that Circuit City’s plan has assets of about $284.9 million to cover promised benefits totaling $349 million.
