A car involved in a wreck that took the life of a teenager was on display at the state Capitol today as part of a program aimed at teaching teens about the consequences of their choices behind the wheel.
The March 2007 crash on West Alameda Parkway killed 17-year-old Samara Stricklen and critically injured Seth Mutschler. He was on hand for the event, along with Stricklen’s mother, Michelle, and representatives from the Colorado State Patrol and numerous state and local traffic-safety organizations.
Nanette LaFleur, a teenager who was sentenced to four years in the Youthful Offender System for the fatal head-on collision, admitted to smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol before getting behind the wheel.
Stricklen was a student at Bear Creek High School.
The car will be on display across the state this year.
