COMMERCE CITY — Police say a man was shot to death this afternoon inside a Dollar Value Plus store in Commerce City.

The victim was found by a customer at around 1 p.m. at the discount store near East 64th Avenue between Holly and Kearney Streets. Investigators are calling it a homicide.

Police said that when officers arrived, they found a man had been shot inside the store. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

People in the area told 9News that the man who was shot owned the store.

“That’s somebody who didn’t deserve to get shot and killed, especially in his own store,” Steven Jaramillo, a frequent customer of the store, told the television station.

Other store owners in the commercial strip mall told Channel 7 that the owner was a Vietnamese man who worked multiple jobs.

Detectives don’t have a description of the shooter and say they haven’t found any eye witnesses. Officers are asking anyone with information, to contact the Commerce City Police.
