Getting your player ready...

X-rays of Troy Tulowitzki’s bruised left hand turned out negative, but because the hand remains swollen, the shortstop underwent an MRI on Wednesday. The Rockies should get the results today. They want to make sure Tulowitzki doesn’t have a hairline fracture or any other structural damage. He will miss a few more games.

Tulowitzki, mired in a slump that has him hitting .218, has been working overtime in the batting cage trying to incorporate changes to his swing and batting stance. Tulowitzki and manager Jim Tracy said his hand injury might be the result of overuse.

Pence pounds Marquis.

Astros right fielder Hunter Pence continues to rip Rockies starter Jason Marquis. Pence hit an RBI single in the first, a triple in the fifth and a monstrous solo home run off the left-field facade to lead off the seventh, tying the game 4-4. He’s 11-for-22 (.500) with five RBIs against Marquis in his career. Pence hit a run-scoring single off Manuel Corpas in the eighth.
