The last parking ticket you got in Denver might have been delivered by chariot.
For the past year, Denver Public Works has been using three “chariots” to enforce parking-meter rules and parking restrictions downtown, agency communications manager Revekka Balancier confirmed in an e-mail. The three-wheeled vehicles can travel up to 25 mph, although the ones in downtown Denver are limited to 12 mph.
The chariots have worked so well that Public Works is considering purchasing a fourth one, Balancier said. The department has been testing a newer model on loan for the past week and a half. One was spotted out and about Thursday morning.
Parking agents also have used a Segway, an electric two-wheeler, for about a year and a half. It maxes out at 10 mph.
