COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—A political advocacy group wants Colorado Springs officials to allow city employees to include their same-sex partners in their health insurance policies.

More than 60 other municipalities in the state already make that option available to same-sex couples and Colorado Springs Councilwoman Jan Martin says this is the year the city should implement the policy.

Executive Director of the Citizens Project Barb Van Hoy said Thursday the group is lobbying city officials to support a health-insurance proposal for same-sex couples.

Vice Mayor Larry Small says a similar proposal that he sponsored in 2003 was rejected.
