COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—An arraignment hearing is scheduled Thursday for a teenager accused of shooting two other teens to death in Colorado Springs earlier this year.

Nineteen-year-old Juan Vasquez is accused of killing two boys during a fight at Cimarron Eastridge Park.

Investigators have said the shooting stemmed from a gang-related clash over a stolen iPod, but relatives of the victims say neither was involved in gangs and that they were simply trying to break up a fight.

Eighteen-year-old Uriel Rascon and 17-year-old Luis Burciaga died of single gunshot wounds to the chest from an assault rifle.

Vasquez has said he was defending his brother.
