DILLON — Arapahoe Basin was one of the first Colorado resorts to open this ski season, and now it will be the last Colorado resort to close.

A-Basin shuts down for the season on Sunday.

Fourteen percent of its terrain and two of its seven lifts were still open Friday.

Spokeswoman Leigh Hierholzer said this is shaping up to be A-Basin’s second-best season for skier visits. It had a record 430,897 skier visits last season, when it opened new terrain and benefited from above-average snowfall.

The resort had about 360,000 skier visits two seasons ago. A-Basin and Loveland both opened for this season Oct. 15.
