A 20-year-old Fort Collins man and his four passengers were injured this morning when he lost control of the car he was driving, crossed two lanes of oncoming traffic and slammed into a tree and a pole.
Vade Dhingra was at the wheel of a silver Toyota Camry driving south on Taft Hill Road when the car careened across the road at the Glenmoor Drive intersection.
Fort Collins police said alcohol and speed were both involved in the accident at about 2:23 a.m.
Dhingra was taken to Poudre Valley Hospital with minor injuries. Passengers Britney Liu, 19, of Orlando, Fla., Alexander Simansons, 19, and Colin Kimball, 20, both of Fort Collins, were also taken to Poudre Valley. Liu’s and Simansons’ injuries were minor while Kimball suffered serious injury.
John Alexander, 20, was taken to Medical Center of the Rockies and treated for minor injuries.
Taft Hill was closed in both directions for more than four hours while police investigated.
The investigation is continuing and charges are pending.
