BOULDER — There is an upside to Colorado’s soggy spring. Wildlife observers say the region’s healthy rainfall has caused a gorgeous explosion of wildflowers along the Rocky Mountains.
Naturalist Stephen Jones of Boulder County says area wildflowers are loving the cool, wet spring. His area saw 9 inches of rain in April and May, with temperatures never above 90 degrees. Last year, only 5.3 inches of rain fell in the same period, with two days in the 90s.
Jones predicts strong wildflower blooms throughout June.
