DENVER—A Colorado man faces money laundering and other charges for allegedly trying to spend $700,000 stolen from an insurance company.
The U.S. attorney’s office said Monday 30-year-old David I. Hillman of Aurora was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to launder money, engaging in monetary transactions in property obtained unlawfully, aiding and abetting and lying to investigators.
No phone listing could be found for Hillman.
A grand jury indictment accuses him of conspiring with an employee of Great-West Life and Annuity Insurance to embezzle and spend the money. The employee wasn’t named.
The indictment alleges that Hillman lied to federal agents about the money.
Hillman is free on bail. He faces up to 25 years in prison and $750,000 in fines if convicted of all counts.
