COMMERCE CITY — An Evans police officer was injured when a fleeing man drove over him Tuesday morning.
Officer Shawn Holmes broke his right ankle, injured his left knee and suffered other leg injuries when he was hit. Police said the car was driven by 32-year-old Clinton Piel, whose mother had called police because of his erratic behavior.
Police said Piel ditched his car several blocks away and was arrested after a short foot chase.
Holmes was treated and released. Piel is in the Weld County Jail on attempted first-degree murder and other charges.
