The Colorado Lottery this week mistakenly sent out 3,700 e-mails informing recipients they had won $100.
“Obviously, this is a mistake,” said Erika Gonzalez, spokeswoman for the Colorado Lottery.
Lottery officials intended to reward 20 people for filling out a survey. But the e-mail system “grabbed” the e-mail before it was ready and sent it to a larger group.
A short time later, an e-mail was sent telling the 3,700 recipients that the first e-mail was in error.
