DENVER—Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper’s former liaison to the Democratic National Convention has been appointed chief of staff to U.S. Labor Secretary Hilda Solis.
Katherine Archuleta joins Solis’ staff at a time when the Barack Obama administration is trying to overhaul the immigration system, address the plight of U.S. auto workers and push the Employee Free Choice Act, which would make it easier for unions to organize.
Archuleta is a former chief of staff for Federico Pena in the U.S. Department of Transportation. She served as Hickenlooper’s liaison to Denver International Airport before working on the Democratic National Convention last year.
