FARGO, N.D.—Dean Blais has resigned as head coach and general manager of the United States Hockey League’s Fargo Force.
The USHL team made the announcement on its Web site. Blais is reported to be in line to coach the University of Nebraska-Omaha hockey team. The Mavericks planned a 2 p.m. news conference in Omaha.
Blais was named in May as head coach of the 2010 U.S. Men’s National Junior Team, which will compete in the International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship in December in Saskatchewan.
Earlier, he was an assistant coach with the U.S. Olympic team, head coach of the University of North Dakota and associate head coach with the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets.
He coached the Fargo Force to the USHL finals this past season and was named the 2009 USHL coach of the year.
