BOULDER — The controversial academic-misconduct case surrounding Ward Churchill will be prominently featured in an upcoming documentary about free speech that is scheduled to air later this month on HBO.
Key players in the case, including Churchill, are interviewed for the documentary, called “Shouting Fire: Stories from the Edge of Free Speech.” The 90-minute film, which includes clips from University of Colorado hearings, will air at 7 p.m. on June 29.
Churchill was fired nearly two years ago by CU regents after the school claimed he had committed widespread academic fraud, including plagiarism and fabricating facts. He sued CU in civil court and won his case during a jury trial earlier this year. The Denver jury awarded him $1 in damages. Daily Camera
