The Weekly Standard magazine has been sold to a Denver-based media company owned by Phil Anschutz. Clarity Media Group said Wednesday that Anschutz was buying the conservative magazine from Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Anschutz’s media company also publishes daily tabloid newspapers under the Examiner name for markets including Washington, D.C., and San Francisco.

In a statement, Weekly Standard editor William Kristol praised Murdoch but said the magazine was pleased to join the Anschutz group. The Associated Press
