SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Intel said it is changing the branding on its computer chips, including phasing out the high-profile Centrino on laptops.

The moves will reinforce the term Core as the flagship brand on Intel microprocessors but will do away with current derivative brands such as Core 2 Duo, the company said on its website. Intel plans to keep its Pentium and Celeron brand names, in addition to Core. Wall Street Journal
