Apparently revolution runs in the family. Dog who helped during 9/11 has been cloned

Scientists in California say they have cloned a dog that helped with search-and-rescue in New York after 9/11.

Five German shepherd puppies cloned from a dog named Trakr have been delivered to owner James Symington, a former police officer in Halifax, Nova Scotia, who now lives in Los Angeles.

Before Trakr died in April at age 16, Symington entered a contest sponsored by the California company BioArts International that offered to clone a pet dog for free.

Lad and lasso meet up as boy in well rescued

It was a cowboy to the rescue when a 7-year-old boy fell into an abandoned water well in southwest Arkansas.

Reed Nations lassoed Jonathan Easter out of the well with a lariat Tuesday morning before rescuers summoned by his grandmother could arrive.

Jonathan was helping his aunt clear brush around an old house. He fell 20 to 30 feet down the well, which has sand walls.

Nations came from a nearby ranch and used a rope lariat to pull Jonathan to safety.

Die one, get one free: Cemetery plots out deal

It’s a buy-one, get-one-free sale — at a cemetery, of all places.

Memorial Park Cemetery on Indianapolis’ far east side is offering plots at the bargain- basement price in one section of its grounds.

It’s not another telling sign of the recession. General manager Mark McCronklin says it’s a promotion the cemetery has run for several years around Memorial Day.
