A man in his early 50s was killed Friday afternoon when he paraglided into the side of Mt. Herman near Monument, authorities said.
When hikers, who saw the 1:37 p.m. crash, reached him, he was unconscious and not breathing, said Sgt. Jeanette Whitney, El Paso County sheriff’s spokeswoman.
“We’re in the process of trying to notify his family,” Whitney said. The man’s name is being withheld until his family can be contacted.
