Fly Fishing Team USA rallied on the final day to finish eighth at the recent world championships in Scotland. Not noted for its skill on lakes, which dominated the competition, the U.S. team vaulted from 13th on the final day.
Pete Erickson and Mike Sexton qualified for the 2010 world championships in Poland. Remaining team members will be determined by a series of competitions later this year.

Tom Enos of Littleton has been elected an at-large member of the board of directors of Ducks Unlimited, the leading North American waterfowl conservation organization.
At-large board members provide assistance to the flyway senior vice president as well as the regional vice president.
Dogs’ work.
A series of seven training sessions beginning July 6 is aimed at preparing bird dogs for the fall hunting season.
The course is conducted by C.J. Kausel of Hunt Smart Productions, assisted by Carol Brady of Sunshine Labradors.
The program is free to the first six retrievers and six pointers that are registered at the customer service desk at Bass Pro Shops, 7970 Northfield Blvd. The first six events will be at Bass Shops, the last a field training day at Colorado Gun Dog Association property near Strasburg.
Sessions will be July 6 and 20; Aug. 3, 17 and 31; and Sept. 14 and 19.
