Two juveniles arrested Tuesday night face first-degree murder charges in a southeast Denver shooting early Monday that left two men dead.

Police are not identifying the two who were arrested because of their age. They have not been charged as adults.

Christian Hernandez, 22, died at Swedish Medical Center about 45 minutes after the 3 a.m. shooting in the 9600 block of East Girard Avenue.

Eduardo Sanchez, 19, succumbed to his wounds today.

Police are saying little about the shooting.

Denver Detective Sharon Avendaño said the case is not being investigated as a gang-related crime, but would not comment on whether detectives have uncovered a motive.

“We don’t talk about motive,” she said.

According to the , a first-degree murder charges applies to “a murder that is committed with premeditation or during the course of a serious felony.”

The address provided by police is shared by The Glen Apartments, immediately north of East Hampden Avenue at South Dayton Street near the John F. Kennedy Golf Course and Cherry Creek Reservoir.

She did not know if the shooting happened on the street or in an apartment or home. She would not disclose the ages of the two juveniles arrested, except that they were younger than 18, or where they lived.

“The information we’re able to release is going to be very limited because the suspects are juveniles,” she said.
