FORT COLLINS, Colo.—The Colorado State University has approved a new budget and officially appointed Tony Frank as the president of the Fort Collins campus.
University officials approved a $872 million budget for the CSU system. The budget approved Wednesday allocates $800 million to the Fort Collins Campus, $67.5 million to the Pueblo campus, and $4.5 million for the system office.
The state cut $33 million to CSU’s budget, but federal stimulus funds offset that deficit.
But students will still see tuition increases. Undergraduate resident full-time students will now pay $2,411 per semester, an increase of $199. Nonresident undergraduate students will pay $10,372 per semester, an increase of $302.
Officials slashed the university’s system budget by 11 percent—which includes things such as legal counsel—and the chancellor’s office also took a 24 percent reduction to meet the new budget.
The university also officially appointed Frank as president on Wednesday. He had been serving as interim president since November after Larry Penley resigned from the post without explanation.
The board had voted to hire Frank last month. His permanent appointment is effective July 1. Frank has worked at CSU for 16 years.
