CULTIVATED READING
Botanic Gardens Book
The Denver Botanic Gardens are indeed wondrous. But as great as the staff is, a visit always raises questions. Whose idea was this? What’s the conservatory made of? What’s that plant, and I can grow it in my garden? The answers all are found in DBG’s new book “Flourish: A visionary Garden in the American West.” Edited by Panayoti Kelaidis, this is a literal and natural history of the gardens, including portraits of favorite plants, illustrated by students in the Botanical Art and Illustration program. Send us your Grow ideas
Though the lettuce and cilantro haven’t yet bolted, the Grow section is done, well, growing for the season. We’ve enjoyed exploring the colorful pots, perennial beds and koi ponds this year, and we’d like you to keep in touch with news about your own progress in the garden. Drop us a note or an e-mail. As we’re collecting ideas for the 2010 season, we may give you a call or send someone out to take pictures. grow@denverpost.com or
