DENVER—Lawmakers, immigrant advocates and business leaders in Colorado are discussing efforts to help immigrants better integrate into communities across the U.S.
The conference is organized by the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights and Colorado’s Spring Institute, a nonprofit that helps immigrants acclimate into communities in the state.
The conference began Wednesday and will continue through Friday.
Topics include how to close the achievement gap among immigrants in education and how immigrants can contribute to the country’s work force.
The conference comes as President Barack Obama meets with Republicans and Democrats Thursday to discuss possible immigration policy changes in the future.
