Two juveniles arrested Tuesday night face first-degree murder charges in a southeast Denver shooting early Monday that left two men dead.

Police are not identifying the two who were arrested because of their age. They have not been charged as adults.

Christian Hernandez, 22, died at Swedish Medical Center about 45 minutes after the 3 a.m. shooting in the 9600 block of East Girard Avenue. Eduardo Sanchez, 19, succumbed to his wounds Wednesday.

Denver Detective Sharon Avendaño said the case is not being investigated as a gang-related crime, but she would not comment on whether detectives have uncovered a motive.

The address provided by police is shared by The Glen Apartments, immediately north of East Hampden Avenue at South Dayton Street, near the John F. Kennedy Golf Course and Cherry Creek Reservoir.

Residents in the neatly kept working-class apartments milled about at dusk Wednesday.

“There’s been talk but not details,” said Jeff Martinez, as his kids romped in the small playground. “We don’t know anything for certain.”
