ATLANTA — Yankees ace CC Sabathia threw in the bullpen before Wednesday’s game against the Braves and said he will be ready to start the opener of a weekend series against the Mets.
Sabathia threw 27 pitches after leaving his last start with tightness in his left biceps.
“I’m good,” he said. “I threw all of my pitches. I’m looking forward to pitching on Friday.”
Also, the Yankees sent reliever Jose Veras to Cleveland for cash.
Lidge ready to return
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Phillies closer Brad Lidge is expected to be reinstated from the 15-day disabled list today. He has been out with a sprained right knee since June 7.
Lindstrom placed on DL
MIAMI — The Marlins placed closer Matt Lindstrom on the 15-day DL with a sprained right elbow.
The Marlins are expected to try Leo Nuñez, Dan Meyer and Brian Sanches in the closer’s role while Lindstrom is out.

The Athletics placed left-hander Josh Outman on the DL with a sprained left elbow, though they were uncertain about a timetable for his return.
• Plans for Reds right-hander Edinson Volquez to resume throwing off a mound within the next few days were put on hold after an MRI last week revealed the inflammation in his elbow has not subsided.
• Outfielder Gary Sheffield had a cortisone shot behind his right knee and was held out of the Mets’ lineup for the third straight game.
