Two people were injured in a helicopter crash Thursday morning in Summit County.

The crash site was at about 13,000 feet in the Monte Cristo Creek drainage area, according to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.

One person was airlifted to St. Anthony Central Hospital in Denver. The second was transported down the mountain by the Summit Rescue Group, the Sheriff’s Office said. The victims’ names have not been released.

The Bell 206 helicopter crashed about 11:30 a.m., approximately 2.5 miles west of Blue Lakes Dam near Hoosier Pass, while delivering supplies to a mine in the area. The copter belongs to Aviation Tech Services of Englewood.

A second ATS helicopter went looking for the aircraft after radio contact was lost.

The crash site was found about 2:45 p.m., according to the Sheriff’s Office.
