PUEBLO, Colo.—Pueblo police arrested the 22-year-old cousin of a 9-month-old girl after authorities found her dead in a trash bin behind a Safeway.
Cadaver dogs led authorities to the body Friday evening after the girl was reported missing in the morning. Police say Kevin Beuhler was jailed on suspicion of first-degree murder by a person in a position of trust.
Pueblo police Sgt. Eric Bravo says the girl’s parents, Selena Olson and Ted Perez, are not suspects in the case. Bravo says the Pueblo County Department of Social Services had legal custody of the girl but she was in the care of her grandmother.
An autopsy is pending to determine the girl’s cause of death.
