The rivalry

Chestnut has won the Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest the past two years. Before that, Kobayashi won six titles in a row. Last year, Chestnut and Kobayashi were tied at 59 dogs after 10 minutes and went head-to-head in a five-dog eat-off.
