Information lines will open today for people who might have been exposed to hepatitis C during surgery at Rose Medical Center in Denver and Audubon Ambulatory Surgery Center in Colorado Springs.
Those who had surgery at Rose between Oct. 21, 2008, and April 13 can call 303-329-7500 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Those who had surgery at Audubon between May 4 and July 1 can call 719-571-4440 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Audubon line opened Saturday, with about 90 calls the first day, reported The Gazette in Colorado Springs.
Both facilities also will notify surgery patients by mail this week, urging them to be tested for the virus. The large majority of those contacted will not have the virus, officials at both facilities said.
Rose Medical Center is offering free testing to more than 4,700 former patients. Audubon could test more than 1,000 people. The Denver Post
