Adapted from “The Instant Cook,” by Donna Hay. The original recipe calls for mint. We substituted basil for an unexpected pop. Serves 4.

Ingredients

1/2      cup sugar

1/4   cup finely chopped basil leaves

4     slices cantaloupe

      Store-bought sorbet of your choice

4     slices honeydew melon

Directions

Place the sugar and basil in a food processor and process until well combined. To serve, place the cantaloupe slices on serving plates and top with scoops of sorbet and a slice of honeydew melon. Sprinkle with the basil sugar and serve.
