The search will resume Thursday morning for a 60-year-old man presumed to have been swept away after crashing his motorcycle in the fast-flowing Poudre River today.

A caller reported see the rider and bike slide off the road and under a guard rail and into the river in Poudre Canyon about 2 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Larimer County Sheriff’s office.

The caller didn’t wait around for rescuers for arrive. The motorcycle was found nearby, but no sign of the rider, said Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Eloise Campanella.

The search was suspended at dark with the river running fast and turbulent.

The sheriff’s department contacted the registered owner of the motorcycle, who said his 60-year-old father, who lives in Missouri and Hawaii, had borrowed it that morning.

Dive teams and other searchers would resume looking in the morning, Campanella said.

The Sheriff’s Department is asking anyone with information to call 970-416-1985.
