Today. Leave the toy cars and trucks at home and head to the Children’s Museum of Denver, where “monstrous construction equipment” will overtake the plaza from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Kids can climb into the driver’s seat and explore these huge industrial machines. The event coincides with the Junior Jobsite at the museum, an exhibit open through Sept. 7 in which youngsters can learn the nuts and bolts of construction. They wear hard hats and safety vests and use blueprints to tackle projects like exterior painting. They also feed bricks onto a conveyor belt, discover the pathways of plumbing and explore the basics of electricity. 2121 Children’s Museum Drive, just off Interstate 25 and 23rd Avenue in Denver. Museum hours are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; 9:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday; and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Sunday. The 2009 Lowrider Tour, sponsored by Lowrider Magazine, pulls into the Mile High City with hundreds of customized vehicles and performances by rappers-turned-custom-car-enthusiasts Xzibit and MC Magic. Lowrider lovers can salivate over award-winning cars and trucks, find out about local car clubs, check out a bevy of “lowrider girls,” and peruse vendor booths featuring the latest parts and products. 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Denver Coliseum, 4600 Humboldt St., Denver. Tickets, $30, can be purchased the day of the show or online at . Children under 10 get in free with a ticketed adult.
