SALIDA — A Texas man who died Thursday after a rafting accident has been identified as a volunteer at a Boy Scout camp.
Police say 49-year-old David Campbell of Carrollton, Texas, died Thursday when his raft capsized in the Arkansas River.
Campbell was a volunteer with the Rocky Mountain Boy Scouts High Adventure Base at Poncha Springs. His raft capsized in a Class 3 rapid.
Scout officials told The Pueblo Chieftain that Campbell lost consciousness after being pulled out, and that resuscitation efforts failed.
