Anthony Colby of Durango defended his title — and lowered his time by two minutes — in winning Newton’s Revenge, a 7.6-mile bike race Saturday up Mount Washington in New Hampshire, the Northeast’s highest peak at 6,288 feet.
Colby, 30, a native of Dedham, Mass., finished in 53 minutes, 50 seconds — two minutes better than last year and almost four minutes ahead of the runner-up, 20-year-old Christopher Hong of Lutherville, Md. Marti Shea of Marblehead, Mass., won her third straight women’s title.
Worsley makes Canadian team.
Blake Worsley, a former All-American at the University of Denver, qualified for the Canadian national team by finishing third in the 200-meter freestyle at the Canadian World Championship Swim Trials in Montreal. His time of 1 minute, 48.61 seconds netted him a spot in the World Championships in Rome starting July 27.
CHL shuffles divisions.
The Central Hockey League realigned its divisions for the upcoming season to compensate for the absence of the Rocky Mountain Rage, which was scuttled after last season. Three teams from last year are gone and two have been added, giving the league 15 teams. The Colorado Eagles will play in the Northern Conference with Bossier-Shreveport, Mississippi, Missouri, Rapid City, Tulsa and Wichita.
