Rick Baldessari, Golden: Local artist Don Mitchell created the art piece “Ready to Serve,” located in the city of Lakewood’s Mountair Park, 5620 W. 14th Ave. Originally installed
in 2002 in street medians located on Harlan
Street, between 19th Avenue and Sixth Avenue,
this piece and others were frequent targets of
the double V’s; vandals and vehicles. In June of
2006, they were relocated to Mountair Park.
The other art pieces include: “Flip Essentials”
(children skateboarding), “Filler Up” (gas station
pump and attendant), “On the Farm” (farmer
and cows) and “Trolley Stop” (trolley car
and riders), a replacement piece created in
2005 to replace an original damaged piece.
