BOULDER, Colo.—Using Boulder’s recreation facilities could get a little more expensive to help cover the city’s costs for exercise programs.

The City Council will discuss a proposal Tuesday night to increase fees because officials say the current fees don’t generate enough money.

City records show recreation programs cost $4.2 million last year but only brought in about $3.5 million in fees.

The Boulder Parks and Recreation Department says it’s too early to know what programs will be affected or how much the increases will be.

A public meeting about the proposal is expected Sept. 2.
