SHERIDAN, Colo.—A section of a bridge over the South Platte River in Sheridan has collapsed after a sinkhole made it unstable.

Police in the west Denver suburb say crews were trying to fill the hole when a section of the bridge collapsed. No injuries have been reported.

West Oxford Avenue is closed at the spot and traffic is being diverted between South Santa Fe Drive and South Federal Boulevard.

The collapse exposed a 4-inch natural gas line. Xcel Energy says no gas leaks have been reported but a crew was sent to shut down the line.
