A Denver man was killed Sunday morning in Northeast Park Hill, and his body was dumped a short time later in Commerce City, Denver police said Sunday afternoon.

Investigators aren’t identifying the man or how he died. Statements from witnesses lead police to think the man knew his assailants, said police spokesman Sonny Jackson.

Police were still interviewing witnesses, so Jackson said he didn’t want to elaborate on the number of assailants or the “disturbance” that occurred in the 3600 block of North Leyden Street about 8:30 a.m.

As Denver police began the investigation, the department received word that a body matching the man’s description had been found in Commerce City near East 52nd Avenue and Forest Street.
