The Denver Botanic Gardens will show the works of British sculptor Henry Moore next year, an exhibition it is calling the gardens’ most significant show to date.

“Moore in America” will run from March 1 through Jan. 31, 2011, at the botanic gardens’ York Street and Chatfield locations. It features 20 large abstract human figures, Moore’s studio tools and small-scale models of his other finished works.

The same show at the New York Botanical Gardens was rated No. 5 among Time magazine’s top 10 museum exhibitions of 2008.

Denver will be the first major open-air show in the western United States for the 20 figures, according to the Henry Moore Foundation.

Moore died in 1986. He was 88 years old.
