STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — Colorado wildlife managers said someone illegally shot and killed a bear in a downtown Steamboat Springs alley.
Jim Haskins of the Colorado Division of Wildlife said officers are looking for the shooter and are treating the incident as a crime.
Haskins said the 200- to 300- pound adult male bear was rooting through trash Monday night when it was shot in the head.
He said the bear wasn’t threatening human life or property.
