ARVADA — Police are looking for whoever left a military explosive device in a Goodwill store drop box at 7547 W. 80th Ave.
The device, thought to be a claymore mine, was found about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday by a store employee familiar with mines used by the military. A bomb squad that removed the device wasn’t sure whether it was functional.
The strip mall surrounding the drop box and store was evacuated.
Police said a functional claymore can fire shrapnel — steel balls in this case — more than 330 feet.
