HOUSTON — A Texas Southern University spokeswoman says six people were shot and wounded at a community rally on the campus in what police believe was a gang-related drive-by shooting.
TSU spokeswoman Eva Pickens says one male student was among those injured Wednesday night.
Pickens says witnesses told police that people in a car drove by the outdoor event where a popular local rapper was promoting a school-supply giveaway and opened fire.
Pickens says the six wounded people are being treated at hospitals for serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.
Campus police believe the incident involving a rivalry between two suburban gangs.
