KEENESBURG, Colo.—Deputies have arrested a man accused of a stabbing and setting two buildings on fire during an 11 1/2-hour standoff in northeast Colorado.
The Weld County sheriff’s office identified the victim as 64-year-old Dan Stallsworth.
Sheriff’s spokesman Shane Scofield says Stallsworth was in critical condition late Thursday. North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley didn’t immediately return a call for an update Friday.
Authorities say Stallsworth was stabbed at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday at an RV and boat storage yard near Keenesburg, 40 miles northeast of Denver. Two buildings burned, triggering propane tank explosions.
Authorities say they arrested 63-year-old Richard Norton around 1 a.m. Friday on suspicion of attempted murder, arson and attempted assault on a police officer.
Authorities say Norton was barricaded in another building with two gasoline-soaked couches and four molotov cocktails.
Scofield says Norton worked at the storage yard and lived on the property for about seven years. He says investigators don’t know what started the incident.
