PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland Trail Blazers signed free-agent guard Andre Miller to a three-year, $21 million deal Friday.

Miller, whose NBA career has spanned 10 seasons with four teams, including the Nuggets, averaged 16.3 points and 6.5 assists as a starter for the Philadelphia 76ers last season.

• Restricted free agent Jamario Moon is joining the Cavaliers after the Miami Heat announced it decided not to match the offer sheet the forward signed with Cleveland.

Hurricanes reacquire Ward

RALEIGH, N.C. — The Carolina Hurricanes reacquired defenseman Aaron Ward, who helped them win the 2006 Stanley Cup, from the Boston Bruins for forward Patrick Eaves and a fourth-round draft pick next year.

Beckham fined for gestures

NEW YORK — David Beckham was fined $1,000 by Major League Soccer, which said his gestures toward taunting fans suggested they leave their seats and come on the field.

The fine by MLS commissioner Don Garber came five days after the English star confronted Los Angeles Galaxy fans in a group called the L.A. Riot Squad. The Galaxy and AC Milan played to a 2-2 tie in an exhibition game.

At halftime, Beckham walked toward the group while shouting and pointing. He challenged fans to meet him on the field and tried to lift himself over advertising boards before security intervened.

Yura Movsisyan scored twice and Real Salt Lake took advantage of an own goal by FC Dallas’ Daniel Torres to rally from a two-goal deficit and earn a 4-2 victory in Sandy, Utah.

Bolt wins 100; Isinbayeva loses

LONDON — Against a strong headwind, Usain Bolt eased to victory in the 100 meters at the London Grand Prix in his last race at the distance before the world championships next month. The Olympic champion and world-record holder finished in 9.91 seconds.

Another of the sport’s biggest stars, Yelena Isinbayeva, was stunned in the pole vault, losing for the first time in six years.

Anna Rogowska of Poland beat her on countback. Isinbayeva entered the competition at 15 feet, 4 1/4 inches, but cleared it only on her final attempt. The Russian failed three times at 15-8 1/4.

Affliction canceled its mixed martial arts show scheduled for Aug. 1 in Anaheim, Calif., after failing to find a suitable replacement for heavyweight Josh Barnett, who failed a steroids test.

• Swimming’s governing body banned record-setting bodysuits, hereby limiting the amount of swimsuit coverage — between the waist and knees for men, not beyond the shoulders or below the knees for women.

Roger Federer, tennis’ top-ranked player, became a father for the first time when his wife, Mirka, gave birth to twin girls, Charlene Riva and Myla Rose.

David Nalbandian (hip) and Mario Ancic (mononucleosis) have withdrawn from the U.S. Open and will be replaced by Ivan Navarro and Karol Beck when the tournament begins Friday.
