OMAHA, Neb.—Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong (en-DAHM-eh-ken) Suh (SOO) has been named the Big 12’s preseason defensive player of the year.
The conference also announced Friday that Nebraska place-kicker Alex Henery has been named to the preseason All-Big team, as voted on by reporters who cover the league.
Suh returns for his senior season after leading the Cornhuskers with 76 tackles in 2008. He was the first lineman to lead the Huskers in tackles in 35 seasons.
Henery enters his junior year as the nation’s most accurate returning kicker, having made 26 of 29 career field goals.
The Huskers on Thursday were named favorites to win the Big 12 North.
